Taking a break
Tuesday, May 29, 2007
This blog will be on hiatus for an uncertain period of time. Will not be contactable via msn nor hp. Anything, call my house phone (my phone calls go through screening btw.. I have a list of ppl I will talk to) or just leave me an sms. I'm bound to check my phone once in a while. I'm just taking a break from all forms of communication with the outside world and choose to stay hidden in my shell. Don't ask why... I can't tell you either.

And congrats to Ernest for getting into the Dean's list (Phase I). Not sure about the rest of you. But congrats anyways.

Within A Split Second
Friday, May 25, 2007
A form 6 friend of my friends passed on last night. She was 22 years old, and died of a heart attack. I didn't know her but I do know the pain of having to lose a friend forever. Although she had been born with heart problems, her death was unexpected. Let's offer our prayers and may she rest in peace.

This had led me to thinking. She was the same age as I am. What does it show? Only one thing.. Death knows no age. I can die anytime, anywhere, from anything. We will never know when our time is up. It's a one way ticket to someplace far, to which we have no say to when we want to pack up and leave. If you are thinking, "how about those who have committed suicide? Don't they choose when they die?" Here's what I think. They do not choose when to die. They just choose to die, it doesn't matter when. Anyway, what I'm trying to point out here, is that anyone of us can go within a split second. One minute you can be talking about the world and about the future, and next, you're six feet underground.

Life is short. I'm not gonna ask you to embrace life as Drew Barrymore had adviced her many fans, but I'm gonna ask both you and me, to forgive those who have wronged us, to forgive those who have hurt us.. to forgive! I know for sure I wouldn't want to leave this world knowing that there are people I bear a grudge against, as I wouldn't want someone to leave with pain in their hearts or hatred towards me. I could never live with myself knowing that someone has passed on before I could ask for forgiveness.

It's easier said than done, of this I'm fully aware. Wounds take time to heal. But it doesn't hurt to tell those who are dear to you three simple words, "I am sorry" or "I forgive you".. So what if you think you'd hurt your pride? Sooner or later you'd forget that ever happened! Besides, what's a little pride compared to the bliss of love and friendship? It's never too late to try to patch things up, as long as you are still breathing. Learn to let go of the past, and capture the present to have a better future! Life is too short to be spent on making enemies, life is too short to make more friends. Appreciate those around you before it's too late...

Word of the day: Manipulation
This post I dedicate to Zhen Zhen..

Girls and guys alike love to manipulate those who fancy them.. I know it feels great when you know that someone has the hots for you, but hello.. STOP TOYING WITH PEOPLE'S FEELINGS!! It can hurt real bad! If you don't like the fella, then don't give false hope, nor work things out to your advantage!

The heart isn't something to be played with, mind you.. You may not know how it feels like having your feelings trashed and meddled with, but if you go on doing that to others, one day you are bound to get it too! What goes around, comes around, 10 fold! I know.. I speak from experience!

Yes, as hard as it is to believe, I was once a b**ch! But you become such a person after having loved someone for 6 years without having it being returned and then suddenly guys are chasing after you like bees to honey!

Well, anyways, before I run further off track, what I'm trying to say is you shouldn't make use of people who like you.. It's not right, and it's a terrible thing to do! Like my mum used to say, "Do onto others what you want others to do onto you!"

More food.....
Monday, May 21, 2007
Yesterday night, the Seremban gang celebrated my birthday for me.. This time, home cooked WESTERN food! Why western? Coz it goes well with Inniskillin Ice Wine~!!

Baked salmon and dori.. Ernie brought his oven all the way to Seremban to cook these.. Gosh, the salmon was friggin A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!! Tek Jee did a great job choosing the fish!

Baked potatoes with chicken stuffing and mozzarella cheese~! Poor Tek Jee almost burnt his fingers taking the tray out from the crazy hot oven and holding it out for a few seconds with nothing but a piece of cloth between the hot tray and his hands for Ernie to sprinkle mozzarella on top!

Tek Jee, Sab and Ernie trying to remove the cork from the wine bottle.. Meanwhile, I was praying hard they wouldn't break it! LOL! We truly savoured every sip of the ice wine~!

Everyone truly enjoyed the dinner.. and so did their neighbour whom was invited coz there was just too much food!!! And when Joo Ee and Chern Wuay returned from their lil romantic escapade, the whacked everthing up! :D So yay! Nothing went to waste!!

Thanks so much you guys for the effort, time, food and company, just to celebrate my 22nd birthday!

Also, thanks to those who wished me a Happy Birthday, and an even bigger thanks to those who are already planning on how you guys wanna celebrate my birthday for me and of course to those who have already celebrated my birthday with me~!! I feel so loved!! And I love you guys too!! Muaks!! Hehe!

Happy 22nd Birthday to me!! And to Sze May and Tak Yee as well! Yes, we all share the same birthday! :D

Sabah Part VII
Unc Madhu, Aunt Alice, Gina, Rachele and Aidan celebrated my early 22nd birthday on the 19th of May, the last night of my 10 day stay in Sabah, at Fish & Co. in Warisan Square.

I was pretty pissed off that night coz after waiting for half an hour for a table, we finally got one, and while the workers there were cleaning up the table, this one friggin obese and ugly man and his b***hy looking girlfriend just said "table for two" and before anyone could respond, they had their smelly butts on the chairs!! And I was right there!!!

Well, being someone who can't stand this kind of nonsense especially when it comes to food, I made a big fuss and the manager made his people ask those at another table to leave asap since they had finished their meal! And then he apologised like mad to me and promised that it wouldn't happen again..

Oh, and the couple, they were asked to sit at another table just as they were starting to eat coz they were taking up a table for six! Hey, I'm not surprised.. The guy's arse was huge! Hmmph! But on top of the whole fiasco, I still had a great time! :D

Thanks you guys! Dinner was superb! And thanks for everything.. I really, truly enjoyed my 10-day stay in Sabah! I'm gonna miss you guys much!!!

The FOOD~!! (P/S: I realised I posted more about food for my trip this time around than on anything else!)

Fish and chips.. with cheese filling.. Forgot the name d.. Haha! New York something or rather I think.. The only problem, too much french fries! So much so I couldn't finish the fish! *Cries*.. Normal fish and chips looked very much the same, except it was served without the American flag!

Mussels with pasta~! Ooh La La..

Seafood platter.. Served with rice (really nice and sweet) and chips!

Before I start today's post.. lemme show you what GSC Kota Kinabalu has that other GSC's do not!

Hand-painted movie posters!!! Woooh.. Impressive!

Went to the Native Court today to get letters to certify my bro's and my native rights.. (btw, I have to learn how to speak Kadazan now, in case they question my lineage) Ironically, the guy in charge of Native Court's name is Innocent! The evidence??

And now... the zoom in...

The verdict --- INNOCENT!! Haha! (I'm so bad.. siou kio)

Went to this nice dessert place called "YogurBerry" with Aunt Alice, cousins Rachele and Gina, and nephew, Aidan, in Warisan Square.. A hip and happening new shopping mall in KK.. We actually wanted to go into VedaBleu to eat gelato but coz Gina met her old colleague, we had to enter YogurBerry instead.. LOL! Anyways, it's a Korean yogurt shop franchise thingy and their theme? "Make your day Slimmer!" Haha!

New place = a chance to CAMWHORE!! Wakaka!

And now... THE DESSERTS......

Wuahhhh crazy nice k!!! *Smacks lips*

Went to the "tamu" (meeting place) with cousin Rachele today (17th May) to take some pics and vids of herbs for my elective after sending Aunt Irene's CRV for washing..

The tamu is a place where people from all over town would gather to sell their goods, usually those which you put into your mouth or things to plant. It's a type of market but it's slightly different. Definately cleaner and not as smelly as your typical wet/morning markets! Anyways, those who come to Sabah should take the opportunity to visit the tamu and experience this cultural difference..

Donggongon town's tamu.. held every Thurs and Fri

Unprocessed herb plant parts, I guess you can call them.. *shrug*

Sabah Part IV
Sorry haven't been updating much about my Sabah trip.. Been waiting for some pics from Kai Shing's camera but haiya.. cannot wait la! Will post the pics from her camera later..

First, a picture of my beautiful nephew, Aidan.. as promised!

Date: 14th and 15th May

Nothing much happened on the 14th of May.. Just went to my grandaunt's place to visit her and I wanted to help her pack "linampuka" (some banana kuih thingy albeit a Kadazan delicacy) into banana leaves but she shoo-ed me away coz those she was making were for sale and I didn't pack them in equal sizes lol! So ended up watching some Korean series with my cousins. Stayed with her that night.. Felt real bad coz she asked me to sleep on the bed while she slept on the floor with nothing but a mat to lie on.. And I felt worse after I had to wake her up crazy early in the morning to tell her I needed to use the loo since she locked the door to the kitchen where the toilet happens to be.. Sigh..

Me trying to wrap "linampuka" in banana leaf before being shoo-ed away! Hehe!

Me (with my crazy dark circles) and my cousin, Eloise.. camwhoring while watching Korean drama! FYI, I sleep at 1am and wake up at 6am in Sabah!! EVERYDAY!! (-_-")

On the 15th of May, I learnt how to make "linampuka".. Well, sorta... My grandaunt just plopped everything into a big basin without actually measuring the ingredients.. lol! Pro already! Also brought this grandaunt of mine and another grandaunt for breakfast.. Pipin mee sup again!! YAY!! Can't get enough of the stuff!

Aunty Mary (mum's first cousin) all dressed up and ready for work!

Have you ever seen a publication with FOUR different languages inside??

My maternal grandmother's sisters.. They are more of grandmothers to me than grandaunts

Flirted with the "waiter" there... I believe he's one of the owner's sons.. Being young (and single) rocks! :D (P/S: Cousin Gina just told me he might be my cousin.. *faint*)

Kai Shing flew over to Sabah today with 11 other people.. All-in-all there were 13 people which includes me and a Sabahan fella, Zhen Kai (10 guys, 3 girls).. Real nice people I should add.. Can't remember all their names tho.. Although it was my first time meeting them, they really took care of me.. especially this guy named Tony.. Went to a couple of places with them namely Yayasan Sabah (there's a famous rotating restaurant on the 18th floor.. we went in and were totally embarrassed coz we were all in shorts and t-shirt and the people there were in pretty frocks and suits! LOL), UMS, Tanjung Aru beach, Sutera Harbour Resort and then dinner at Salut Seafood Restaurant!

Yayasan Sabah a.k.a the leaning tower of Sabah! It really does lean slightly to one side! I'm not surpised coz the bottom part of the building is smaller than the top.. Somewhat like a Popsicle!

Inside the rotating restaurant.. Takes a whole hour to turn one round.. Somewhat like the Carlsberg Sky Tower in Sentosa Island, Singapore...

Tanjung Aru "almost" sunset

Sutera Harbour at sunset! The pics aren't very clear tho.. will upload more pictures of Sutera Harbour once Kai Shing passes them to me.. Rufie's camera seriously sux when it comes to night scenes

Now.... THE FOOD!!!

Feel free to salivate! Muahaha!

Date: 16th May (Teacher's Day!!)

Went to Labuan with cousin Rachele today.. Missed the first ferry (8am) by 5 mins!!! Took the next one which was at 1.30pm! After an exhausting 4.5 hour journey (normally the journey takes 2.5 hours but coz of the rough seas, we went real slow), we decided to stay at Labuan but unfortunately, my parents were crazy against the idea so we had to fly back the same night at 9.50pm via MAS airlines (which btw, took 30mins)! Didn't really have any mood to camwhore so I'll just post up a pic of my purchase...

Inniskillin Ice Wine!!! Vincent's present to me for my 22nd Birthday!! Yay!!

Btw, the outside roof of the airport broke and water came gushing down like waterfall and the current was so strong, two cars were pushed a few feet away!

Drama betul la my day!!

Firstly....

HAPPY MUMMY'S DAY, MUMMY!!!
And also to all the mommies out there!
We love our Mommies!!!!

----------------------------------------------

Ate the best mee sup in the world today! Pipin Mee Sup!! I'd eat Pipin mee sup everytime without fail when I come back to Sabah! Nobody knows what's inside their awesome tasting soup, but what we do know, is that lotsa wogok (pigs in kadazan) died to satisfy our appetites! Seriously, to those who can eat wogok, you guys should try out this dish when you visit Sabah!

The Place (only on Sundays it's at this place.. Others days it's at the owner's house)

Cousins Elenore and Lawson (P/S: Lawson wants people to say he's handsome LOL)

Me with cousins Rachele and Elizabeth

Pipin Mee Sup!! (See anything wrong with the picture? Hehe!)

Oohh... Yummy~!!

Btw, to get to church, the villagers have to use this one hanging bridge nearby the stall.. Never did dare to go up! They did build a new bridge but I believe some people still use the old one..

New bridge vs Old bridge

Ye old bridge

Still on the subject of food... I cooked dinner today!! I cooked all the dishes except the fish! And cousin Rachele was suppose to cook the sweet sour prawns but her stomach suddenly hurt and I had to take over..

Aunt Alice, Unc Madhu and cousin Gina said that the food I cooked tasted good! Yay!! And it was my first time cooking those dishes!

And oh.. I got into a minor accident today.. Unc Madhu asked me to move his company van so that I can drive the CRV I'm using to buy some lime for him coz his van was blocking the CRV. Anyways, I couldn't find the van's break pedal and rammed into my uncle's Hilux! The impact, thank God, wasn't that strong, coz the Hilux's handbreak wasn't pulled up! So when I hit it, it sorta moved forward, and the only damage the whole accident caused was the breaking of the van's plate number! *Cries* I COULDN'T FIND THE BREAK!!! Sigh...

Broken car plate number

The missing piece.. Unc Madhu told me to keep it as a souvenir

And another thing.. I finally watched Spiderman 3 today.. Loved the action scenes, hated the ending!! Lame ending!! I rate it 6/10 overall!

Sabah Part 2
Didn't do much today. Stayed at home most of the time and helped Gina look after lil Aidan. Went out only twice; once to grab some lunch with cousins Gina and Rachele, and the second time to get Uncle Abol's Honda CRV so that I can commute around KK without having to rely on anyone. Oh, also went to Uncle Dius' place to visit him and Aunt Rina and cousins Elizabeth, Elenore and Eloise.

Me holding my nephew, Aidan Archer Wong. Will take a picture of him alone soon.. He was kinda in a bad mood today coz his tummy hurt and the rest of the time he was sleeping.

Btw, Aidan, or Don Don, was going "ngek ngek" when his mum passed him over to me coz she wanted to bathe. Then I sang him a lullaby and he slept! Then when I stopped, he "ngek ngek"-ed again.. And when I continued singing, he slept again! Gosh, sooo cute!! FYI, he's 5 weeks old!

Went to Lok Kawi Wildlife Park and Orchid de Villa today, following aunt Alice's half-day tour with my cousin Rachele and an American couple, Sonia and William.

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park was recently opened so it's still under construction and they are yet to add more animals to their "collection" and most of their animals are still pretty young. Would be a nice place to visit once it's all done up nicely and the animals have grown up a lil more.. Also, it would be a lot cooler once the canopy walks are up.. The sun was really scorching today! And it was only like.. 10.30am?? Then again.. it's always hot in Sabah! LOL!

Lok Kawi Wildlife Park

Orchid de Villa was crazy hot!! The tour guide was ultra passionate about his job, naming about almost every single orchid in the entire place!! And mind you, the place ain't small at all!! We covered like barely half of the whole area in an hour plus?? *Faint* Wouldn't have been so bad if it weren't for the bloody mosquitoes there!!! OMG!! First time I'd witnessed 20-30 mosquitoes attacking one person at one go!! So ok.. maybe not attacking.. YET.. but the mosquitoes were following our butts like how chicks would follow their mother!! Tried taking pics of that but the pics didn't turn out.. Oh well..

So my advice to you guys who plan on visiting Orchid de Villa, USE MOSQUITOE REPELLANT!! Oh, and use long pants too! My souveniors from the orchard; more than 5 red, itchy, and friggin big lumps on each leg coz I wore shorts!!

Orchid de Villa

Oh, we also went to the "tamu" at Donggonggon town and I managed to take some pics for my herb collection for Electives.. Yet to take more pictures and gather some herbs!

Next: Pics of my aunt's tour agency and crazy nice scenery from the building where my aun't office is... (P/S Rufie: your camera kinda sucks.. but I love you anyways! Haha!)
