Holidays~Part II: Niah & Miri Petroleum Museum
Friday, April 18, 2008
Tek Jee quoted something that went like this: "If you don't visit Niah, you haven't seen Miri!"

Niah - can you spot the cave?

And while trekking through the Niah forest reserve to get to Great Cave, he thought me how to enjoy the sceneries and observe nature instead of being too paranoid I'd fall down since it just rained and the trails were wet and slippery.. (Yes, I was looking at my feet the first 15 - 20 minutes! Think of how much I must have missed!)

So anyways, once I was sure I wouldn't fall flat on my face, I started to take pictures... Here are some of the many pics I started taking after I felt safe on my own two feet lols!

3km walk to Great Cave!

Probably a 1000 year old tree.. Can find those all around the forest!

Erosions on the cave walls due to high tide and strong currents during the stone ages.. Or something like that..

Definately a questionnable act! Currently humming "Can you see the love tonight~"

Some weird hammer head leech like thing.. Yeek!

Could also see snails all over.. And with different shell colours too!

Spiderweb after an afternoon shower

Ganas lil' fella this one.. Don't be fooled by it's innocent puppy dog eyes!! LOLS!

Me and my tour guide~!

Half way through~ Wee~!!

I know! Beautiful! And so is the background! *Grins*

Archeological site @ the entrance of Great Cave

"Welcome to Great Cave!" Too bad we didn't manage to go to Painted Cave coz it was getting really dark out..

Where the locals collect bird's nest.. They have to climb up those thin sticks to get to the roof of the cave where they would harvest the saliva

Hardened bat guano and this makes the ground you walk on!

La di da~~!

Like a speck of dust but I felt like I owned the world!

"Great success~!"

And finally... The scenery on the way back to Miri city.. Tell me it's not beautiful and I'll tell you that your eyesight is gone!

The next and last day of my stay in Miri, Tek Jee's mum brought me to Petroleum Museum. I loved the scenery atop the hill where the museum is situated! Breathtaking!

All-in-all, I had a marvelous time in Miri/Brunei! Thank you so very much Tek Jee and family! Thanks for making me feel at home and like one of the family! Looking forward to visiting Miri again in the near future! *Smiles*
